The twins did all they could to get out from the hole but their effort proved aborted. Meanwhile, time had gone far without them realising it. It wasn't a joking matter to Udoka anymore. She sat at the base of the inactive volcano with her sister whose eyes never dried from tears. Monica lamented and regretted coming there.
"Can you just kept quiet and think of how we are going to get out of here?!" Udoka provoked.
"Have you forgotten that if we are caught here, we will be killed just as they killed our father" Monica said.
"That's why you should keep quiet and reason. Moreover, why would they kill us when we are not strangers of this land"
"Have you forgotten that we are outcasts?"
"I don't want to here that please" Udoka stood up. "The only thing i want to hear now is how we can get out of here"
Few hours later, the twins made it out from the inactive volcano. They made sure they covered it with grasses just as the way they found it. Already, the time was 3: 50a.m. Immediately they happily stepped away from the arena, a bright light shone on their faces thereby making both to stand still. They were unable to see the source of the light due to its brightness. Therefore their heart began to pound like where a grandmother is pounding pounded yam.
"Udoka, I'm scared" Monica whispered.
"Give me your hand" Udoka gently grabbed her sister's hand. "Who's there!!" she shouted but nothing happened. As they stared at the light, another one came from the same direction. They could hear male voices soliloquizing.
"Who's there!" Udoka shouted again. Yet, nobody responded. The next thing they heard was, "Abomination!"
The twins looked at each other. They could see the light coming closer in a hurry...

Mrs Williams jerked awake. She was touched to check on her daughters. She tied a wrapper across her chest as she walked sluggishly to their room. She couldn't believe that they weren't there. So she glanced at the wall clock; 4:05a.m. She rushed outside. Even the front door was left opened. Mrs Williams moved around the house pherically, yet, there was no sign of her daughters. "Udoka! Monica!" she shouted but heard nothing. "Where have these children gone to?" she soliloquized...

Back to the dark forest of Ndiogoro land, the two light came from two young able hunters. They had the light fixed on their heads while they handled guns in their hands. Their body complexion was totally black.
"Abomination!" Okoro, one of the hunters shouted again.
"Strangers in the dark forest of our land" Ahamefuna, popularly known as Aham, the next hunter said. "They are not only strangers but twins" he added.
The twins held their hands tightly with increase in heartbeat. They watched the men come closer.
"Please, don't hurt us" Monica had started shedding tears already.
"Shut up! Who are you and what are you doing here?" Okoro positioned the light on their faces. The girls refused to talk after series of questions. They were captured by the men to the village square of Ndiogoro..

6:30a.m.
Already, Mrs Williams had gone to Faith and Adaku's house to confirm whether her daughters were there but the answer was negative. So she sat in front of her house crying seriously with Faith and Adaku standing beside her in consultation. Other women who knew her gathered around to share the strange event with her.
"How can children suddenly disappear in the middle of the night?" one of them said amazingly.
"Are they witchcrafts?" another murmured.
"Watch your mouth, those children, from what i heard are very good and responsible"
"Oh.. What a pity?"

That same morning, David received a call from his mother telling him that she was on her way to the village. He thought of why her mother would go to the village before dressing up with Mike. They had eight O'clock lecture, likewise Enest and Sandra.

Back to Ndiogoro village, crowd of people gather at the village square in a way they formed a cycle with the twins at the centre. Their legs and hands were tied. Tears could be seen gushing out of their eyes. Some elders on red cap stood in a roll within the cycle too. The king, Chief Dike and other chiefs were yet to be there.
"Who are u girls" Elder Onu, the prime minister known as 'Onuowo' began. "Where are you from and who are your parents?"
"We are Udoka and Monica from Eziukwu village" Udoka replied.
"Heeey!" the crowd shouted. "They must die!!"
"Aro!" some of the elders shouted.
"Who are your parents" Elder Onu asked again but the twins kept quiet. "What were you doing at the dark forest of our land knowing that you are strangers?" Yet, the twins kept quiet. Already some diamonds were in Monica's pocket.
The king and some chiefs arrived. They asked more questions. After the twins refused to answer, he ordered them to be killed..

Just at the entrance of the lecture hall, David's phone rang. He was with Mike, Sandra and Enest.
"David, something is going on in the village" Mrs Robinson, the mother sounded on the phone..

The dark forest of Ndiogoro land possesses different kinds of totem used by the forefathers of the indigens. It has been a place full of strange remarkable things such as a large pot-hole which seems like it was created by a gully erosion. Inside it were also rocks and muddy shelves. Due to the strange rocks and lack of education, the forefathers of the land kept the forest secrete believing to be the luck of the land. Therefore, they laid down laws and traditions for it. Years passed. The village civilized with the world at large. So the dark forest was left untouched but was believed in it's endowment. They never knew what it has brought to the land naturally.
Now, the daughters of Mrs Williams, Udoka and Monica were about to discover that which the forest has brought to the land naturally. The darkness still lingered in the forest as both stared at the tiny bright light from the ground. Udoka who moved forward to take a good look at it after asking what they were said again, "They are like stars from the ground" she bent down to shuffle away more dead leaves with her hands.
"Udoka don't!" Monica said silently from behind.
Just as Udoka's hands reached the ground, she found herself falling inside the pit with rocks.
"Udoka!" Monica exclaimed without minding where she was. She ran blindly to save her sister but also fell inside the large pit-a bit deep but not too narrow. The pit was covered with leaves since it had been left for years, so the twins were on aware. The route in which they fell inside opened widely thereby making the light shine brighter to the extent they didn't need the torch-light anymore. The light reflected on trees, leaves and other things that were within a close range.
The twins gradually stood up inside the pit looking around. They could see what created the bright light hanging at different angles of the pit. Some were also found around the rocks.
"My goodness!" Monica exclaimed.
"Oh-my-God!" Udoka stressed in disbelief. "Do you know what they are?" she looked at her sister.
"Diamonds?" Monica wasn't sure.
"Yes, they are!"
"I can't believe this" Monica reached one of the diamonds as well as Udoka. Both stared at it in amazement.
"These are really diamonds" Udoka said.
"Yes, but how come?" Monica looked at her sister remembering what they were thought in secondary school about diamonds. "Diamond is formed when extreme heat; temperature at 2,200 degree fehrenheit and extreme pressure cause carbon atoms to crystallize forming diamonds approximately ninety miles under the earth surface. I guess we are not ninety miles under the earth surface. So how possible?"
"It's possible" Udoka began. She loved Geography back in her secondary school days. She performed very well on it but preferred Biology to it. She had learnt so many things about rocks, volcano, mountains, map, and other natural resources. "Diamonds reach the surface of the earth through volcanic pipes or via placer or alluvial deposite" she located the torch and shone it's light to one of the rocks. "This is a Kimberlite"
"What's a kimberlite?" Monica queried.
"It's a blue rock that occurs in ancient volcanic pipes and it's the most common host of diamond"
"That means a volcano use to be here"
"Probably, many years ago"
The twins looked at each other. They smiled broadly coz they knew what it means for a natural diamond to be in ones possession.
"Let's take them home" Monica suggested.
"No" Udoka objected. "We have to go then planned on what to do. It's now an unknown secret"
"Are you out of your mind?! What if another person comes in here?"
"Nobody will"
"Alright, let's just take few of them" Monica quickly took few diamonds. She put them inside her jean pocket while Udoka was busy staring up. She shone the torch-light upward too thinking critically. That was when she knew that they were in a pit.
"Monica" she called.
"What?" Monica turned.
"Look up. We are busy talking about how to take some diamonds home but never realized we are in a volcano. How are we gonna climb up there?"
Monica became dumb as she stared upward. The remaining diamonds in her hand gradually fell off. She looked at her sister just to find her staring at her already. "What do we do now?"
"We have to find a way out of here" Udoka replied. She told Monica to first try climbing on rocks until she reaches the surface. Monica tried severally but found herself falling back on the ground. Instantly, she began to shed tears.
"Udoka, I'm scared"
"Please, spare me those your tears. We are going out of here" Udoka handed the torchlight to her. She also tried to climb but found herself falling back to the ground due to the rocks were farther apart. She looked at Monica and said, "You can now shed those tears"
"Heeeyy! My God! We are finished! Mother will.." Monica began to cry.
"I didn't say cry" Udoka interrupted. "Just shed tears"
"Leave me alone!" Monica exclaimed.
"Then cry nah"
"I'm already crying"
"Good" Udoka climbed another rocks just to try again..

Mrs Williams wasn't sleeping in the same room with the twins. She had no idea what the children were up to. Even as she was asleep, she didn't dream about it.
In the other room, Udoka became dumb coz she couldn't believe her sister. But when Monica repeated her question with all seriousness, she was forced to stand on her feet.
"You mean we are going to the Dark Forest by this time of the night?"
"Yes" Monica had put on her jean trouser trying to wear a top.
"Why tonight?" Udoka glanced through the window. She saw nothing but darkness.
"He said it must be tonight"
"Who said?"
"I don't know. I want to free myself from this horror dream. Or should i call it a nightmare?" Monica slowly moved closer to Udoka. She placed her two hands on her shoulder then looked into her eyes. "You always wanted to go the Dark For.."
"But not at night?" Udoka interrupted.
"It doesn't make any different. Our father had the same dreams about the forest and was killed in the process of knowing what lies in it. Now, i am having the same dream. Don't you think there is something about the forest whether good or bad that God wants our family to know since it's over twenty years our father was killed because of the same reason? Yet, one of his daughters is having the same feelings and dreams about the forest? The time has ripped for us to know that which God wants us to know about the forest. Please, as my blood and twin sister, follow me to the forest"
Udoka was not only motivated to concur with her sister, but was also reinforced. She had never heard Monica spoke in such morale. Therefore, she said, "Let's do this"
"Thank you" Monica smiled and gradually brought down her hands from her shoulder.
Udoka also changed to a jean trouser and picked up a marchet while Monica handled a torchlight. They gradually sneaked out of the house then headed to Ndiogoro land.

11:30pm
The twins stopped at the road that leads to the dark forest. Monica glanced at her sister. She remembered the exact words Adaku said when they were on their way to Ndiogoro: THIS ROAD LEADS TO THE DARK FOREST OF NDIOGORO LAND. STRANGERS DON'T ENTER THERE.
"What?" Udoka brought back her senses.
"I'm no stranger" Monica replied. Udoka reasoned her response then had a clue of what she remember: Adaku's words.
"Let's go" Monica hurried up followed by her sister. The ray of light from the torch luminated just a close range. The more they hurried, the darker the road. Before them at a far distance was a thick forest. As they drew closer, Monica began to shed tears. Yet she never stopped walking. The tears poured down like a rain and her lips vibrated.
"Why do you cry, Monica?" Udoka stopped.
"I don't know" Monica also stopped.
"I don't understand"
"Neither do i"
They became quiet staring at each other. Udoka collected the torch from her. She moved to the forefront while the sister followed her. As the silence lingered, darkness darkened and tears poured down from Monica's eyes, she called, "Udoka"
Udoka stopped, turned and flashed the torchlight on Monica's face then waited for her to continue.
"Udoka.." Monica sniffed in tears. "I want you to understand something. Always have it at the back of your mind that i love you and mother so much. You have been both my brother and sister. Don't you ever forget.."
"Stop!" Udoka began to shed tears too. She couldn't bear it anymore. Her sister's words touched her innermost heart. "Stop speaking as if you are going to where i won't be able to go. We must complete this journey. No going back" she hugged her tightly. Immediately, a strange wind began. Lightening strucked in the atmosphere and rain began to fall. But they continued.

12 midnight
The twins came to the heart of the Dark Forest of Ndiogoro land. They stood at a spot without knowing what else to do or where to go. The only thing seen was darkness both front and back. Tall tress and other shrubs dangled towards the wind. By then, the rain had stopped falling but drizzling. They could hear the sound of different insects from both far and near. The torchlight suddenly fell from Udoka's hand but she quickly picked it up and said, "Now what?"
"Put off the light" Monica instructed.
"What?! Why? Can't you see how dark this place is?"
"Just do it!" Monica shrieked.
Udoka stared at her for a moment. She reluctantly turned off the torchlight and that created room for the darkest hour. Both couldn't even see each other. All they could hear was the singing birds and moving air.
"Monica.."
"Quiet" Monica interrupted Udoka. She fixed her eyes on the ground expecting to see what she sees in the dream. As she stared at the dark ground, she began to see a very tiny bright ray of light sprinkling out of the ground.
"Can you see that?" she smiled.
"What?" Udoka asked.
"Look at the ground. What can you see?"
Udoka fixed her eyes on the ground. "My God!" she exclaimed. She moved forward and shuffled away dead leaves to take a better look. "They are like stars! What are they?" she asked..

Even as David chose not to respond Sandra's question, she persuaded him to tell her why he had to travel to the village without her concernt.
Sandra is a social girl who get what she wants from boys anytime. Both sexually, educationally and financially. Though such act is regarded as prostitution but she highlighted it to be called school Runs. She never knew she would be arrested by David's love. Therefore she was ready to give up such act just to wins his heart but David wasn't dancing to the tone of her music.
"Why did you travel to the village?" Sandra repeated the question.
"To see a friend" David responded.
"I guess she's a girl"
"Yes"
Sandra became not only jealous but also disappointed. She wanted to make a move coz she wouldn't want anybody to come between her and David. She adjusted closer to him on the edge of the bed and placed her hand on his shoulder.
"David, it has been long we are friends. For all this while my feelings for you have remained the same. I.. i.. i.. don.. don't know how to put this. But.. I'm in love with you" Sandra's voice changed emotionally. Her hands became softer and heartbeat increased. She romanced David and brought her head to kiss him. She succeeded in that then gradually pulled him down on the bed. Already, David's dick had erected and can visibly seen through his boxers. Just as Sandra wanted to lay on him for further sexual act, he rushed up instantly. Parasympathetic nervous system activated in his body then the dick collapsed.
"No, i can't do this. I can't give you what you want. Don't misunderstand me. I'm not talking about sex. I mean i can't bring myself to love you" David responded in a hurry.

Without responding, Sandra clutched the door knob then went out.

Darkness had taken over. Both the school, town, Ndiogoro and Eziukwu village experienced its gravity. The wind of the night gave a bad signal to everyone, even Trust and Sunday. Emotional feelings were released to the universe from different angels.
David and Mike laid on the bed quietly after a long discussion about the visit to the village. Even the recent act that happened between Sandra and David. Mike located his wrist watch. He glanced at it then kept it.
"It's pass nine" he murmured to the hearing of David who stared at the ceiling.
"I don't like the way i feel" David's voice sounded then tranquility took over again.

Enest, in his lodge where he stays alone released feelings to the universe for the girl he hoped to see again. He sat on a chair with a pen in his hand. Before him was a table full of books. What could be the strange feelings he had for the girl he met at the festival? He couldn't figure it out. He glanced at the time of his phone: 9:30pm. "Monica" was the last word that came from his mouth.

It became obvious that Sunny missed the twins especially Udoka regardless of the fact that they lived like cat and rat. But he found himself so worried about her that night. He glanced at Trust who laid besid him asleep then averted his eyes. "Could it be that I'm falling inlove with a troublesome, small Udoka or something strange is about to happen to her?" he thought over the unexpected and unusual feelings.

Elizabeth was fast asleep while Sandra was still awake thinking of the guy who has taken her heart. She thought over the girl who had gone ahead of her to capture David's heart before her but couldn't think of a particular girl. Therefore, she concluded of not leaving him. That was a night she had ever felt emotionally. "This is strange" she thought.

Back to Eziukwu village, Monica had fallen asleep while Udoka remained awake thinking about David too. She had a feeling that she was not going to see him again or rather, he would break her heart. As she was having the strange feelings, Monica began to soliloquize in bed and flinging her legs.
"Monica!" Udoka tapped her but she kept murmuring. "Monica!" she hit her harder before she woke up sweating variously. Udoka noticed an atom of boldness in her unlike before.
Monica stood up in a hurry, picked up her jean trouser and began to change.
"Where are u going to?" Udoka surprisingly glanced at the wall clock: 10:15pm.
"It's time" Monica replied.
"For what?"
"I'm tired of this dream"
"I don't get u"
"I'm going to the Dark Forest of our land"
Udoka remain speechless. She glanced at the clock again before looking at her sister. She had never seen her in such a serious mood.
"Are u following me or not?" Monica asked..

There was an eye contact between Udoka and her sister when they sighted their mother coming. As usual, they began to memorize their lies in ascending order. David had no idea what was going through their minds. Therefore he kept smiling coz he was pleased to see madam Rose whom his grandmother had told him about.
"Welcome, mother" Monica carried a basket of food stuffs from her mother into the house.
"Welcome, mother" Udoka stood up with David who also greeted.
"Thank you my son" Mrs Williams responded. "But who are.."
"Mother, he's David my friend. He came from the city to see me" Udoka interrupted.
"Really?" the mother turned to David. "Who are your parents?"
"Mr and Mrs Robinson, ma'am" David replied.
"From where?"
"Ndiogoro village"
Hearing that, Mrs Williams glanced at Udoka in a way that shows: NDIOGORO AGAIN?! But she didn't show it rather covered it with a gambit smile to David.
"Enjoy your food my son"
"Thank you, ma'am" David sat down in a gallantry manner while Mrs Williams entered. Udoka also sat down then gave David auspicious smiles.
"You've been hiding something from me" David broke the silence.
"What?" asked Udoka.
"You told me you're a native of Ndiogoro but here you are in Eziukwu. Why?"
"Can we not talk about it please?"
"That's what u always say"
Udoka opened the food for him in order to stop the conversation. With happiness David consumed the food. He spent enough time before going back. Mr Williams and Monica wished him safe journey as he left with Udoka. However, he had given her his number again since she refused to collect the phone.
They got to where they had to depart then Udoka's mood changed. She couldn't let go remembering the nature of her backaground and the future plans she wanted to achieve but her present status tied her down. She bit her fingernail with her face down.
"Hey.." David took off the hand from her mouth then she looked up. Tears had already engulfed her eyes. "What's it?"
"David, i want to be like you" the tears finally dropped from Udoka's eyes. "I want to be in school and also achieve my own dreams"
Seeing the tears, David embraced her. "Everything will be fine and u will also go back to your father's land"
Udoka disengaged herself. "What do you mean?"
"Are u surprise? I already know what you have refused to tell me"
"How?"
"My grandmother has told me all. Your mother's name is Rose.." David paused. He dried her tears and consoled her again. "Be strong, we gonna win this battle coz you're coming back to your father's land, our land. Do you hear me?"
Udoka nodded her head positively hearing the words of encouragement. She quickly hugged him then reluctantly left.

Mrs Williams sat in the sittingroom when Udoka walked in. Already, Monica was sitting opposite her mother.
"Udoka, sit down" the mother instructed.
Udoka sat beside her sister. She had an idea of what her mother wanted to say but kept mute.
"I was once a young girl like you" the mother began. "I also know you've come of age to decide or do some certain things on ur own but I'm still your mother. You have to adhere to my orders and instructions. I don't want to see you with that boy again"
Udoka and her sister looked at each other.
"Why mother?"
"I have said it and it must be like that"
"Because he's from Ndiogoro, isn't it?" Udoka queried the mother. "How can i be denied from going to my father's land and also making a choice of friend? Mother you know i won't adhere to this particular instruction"
"Shut up!" the mother rebuked her. "How dare you?!"
"What life do you want from me?!" Udoka stood up.
"Chineke!" the mother became amazed.
"Think of a life you are told where to go and who to associated with all because of what you don't know anything about! I've been deprived of fatherly love, the love of my people, my father's land! And now you want to deprive me of a friendly love too"
"What of motherly love which i give you!"
"Mother, that's not the point!" Udoka shrieked bitterly.
"Udoka, is okay" Monica spoke up.
"Is not okay!" retorted Udoka. "Just leave me alone!" she ran to the backyard in tears.
Silence took over between Monica and her mother. She stood up and sat besid her mother. With a meek voice she said, "Mother, is they no way all this problems can be fixed so we can go back to our father's land?"
The mother stood up, adjusted her wrapper then went out without responding. Then Monica became emotionally disappointed.

David went back to his grandmother who told him more about late Mr Williams before he went back to school. The first call he received was from Sandra. Mike had gone out, so he didn't meet him in the lodge. Few minutes later, Sandra entered autocratically. She wore a short skirt that rendered her half naked. Even her voluminous breast battled with her bra. She gently sat down besid David with a frowned face. David wore a singlet and a boxers.
"You didn't even bother to tell me you were traveling to the village"
"I'm sorry dear"
"Why did you travel?" Sandra questioned..

David followed Faith simultaneously. His heart filled with joy for finally getting someone who would take him to his love. He had had several relationships that crashed on the way and never felt the way he had been feeling for Udoka. What must be so special about this girl? That was a question David couldn't figure out the answer. Sandra had indirectly been seeking for his love. Of course, he knew about it but decided to keep mute coz of a reason he couldn't figure out too.
Faith occasionally admired his outfit and wondered why he wanted to see Udoka.

At the local resident of Mrs Williams who wasn't at home, the twins came out from the house with buckets in their hands. Obviously they were on their way to the stream putting on the same colour of clothes: skirt and top. Their thighs were visible making any man wonder what lies in between them. They parked their hair backwards. The only thing different was the colour of their footwears.
"Let me get something inside" Udoka went back into the house.
"I'm leaving" Monica stepped out.
"Wait for me!" came the echo of Udoka's voice.
Just then, Monica sighted Faith coming with a young boy who she didn't know. Her eyes fixed on them until they drew closer. However, David began to smile thinking he was seeing Udoka but after noticing how Monica gaze at him strangely, he frowned. Even Faith was confused coz she didn't know whether the girl standing before her was Udoka or Monica.
"Hi, Faith" Monica broke the silence.
"Hi, this person wants to see Udoka or are you.." Faith looked at David.
Before Monica could forge ahead with the answer to the question, Udoka rushed out but slowed down when she saw David.
"David?" she called surprisingly with a low voice then all gaze at her.
Instantly, David began to smile again. "Udoka"
"David!!" Udoka threw off the bucket in her hand and ran towards him. Seeing such excitement, the two other girls adjusted away as they hugged tightly. Udoka's legs left the ground and stretched backward as her hands and other part of her body engulfed David's body who flung her around then dropped her.
Meanwhile, Monica and Faith were already glowing with smile. It was like a movie to them.
"How did you locate this place!" Udoka asked still holding David's hands. Her eyes never departed from his.
"It's a long story. The most important thing is that i have found you" replied David.
"But you shouldn't.." Udoka was interrupted by a cough from her sister who wanted to be part of the movie. She smiled then introduced the girls to David...

AT JUMBOSCO FEDERAL UNIVERSITY
Sandra's apartment had the same design with that of David's: The location of the bed and wardrobe. The only thing odd was a table full of make-up materials, books and papers. Under the wardrobe were bags full of clothes excluding the ones on the wardrobe.
Sandra angrily threw her hand-bag on the bed. As if that wasn't enough, she pulled off her shoes. She could her splash of water from the bathroom- that was her roommate Elizabeth. She sat on the edge of the bed with a hand on her forehead. She had tried David's number severally but not reachable. Suddenly, Elizabeth came out from the bathroom with a brown towel tied round her chest. She had a fat beautiful body with dimples.
"Babe, what's it?"
"Nothing" Sandra crumbled.
"Obviously there is something" Elizabeth untied the towel. One could see her butt looking attractive. It seemed to have dimples too. No hair was found on her erogenous zone.
"It seems like David has a girlfriend that i don't know" Sandra looked up.
"Is that why you want to kill yourself? Girl wake up. I don't know you as someone who can be stocked in the name of love"
"You won't understand how i feel whenever I'm with David unlike other men i meet"
"Where is he now?"
"I heard he traveled to the village to see a girl"
"But this David has not make any relationship propor.."
"That's it!" Sandra interrupted and stood up angrily. "I have waited for so long for that to happen! Should i be the one to do that?!"
"We are in a modern and civilized world" Elizabeth concluded leaving Sandra in a deep thought.

Back to Eziukwu land, Faith had gone home leaving the twins with their visitor. Udoka made David sit on a long bench at the frontage. She also sat beside him while Monica remained inside.
"I came all the way from school to see you coz i miss.."
"I miss you too" Udoka interrupted unabashedly with a smile. "I thought i will not see u again"
"That will never happen" David brought out the cell phone again. "Please, take it so as not to miss you too much. We need communication"
Udoka stared at the cell phone then shook her head negatively. Just then, Monica came out with a plate of food.
"This is for sending food and drinks to me weeks ago" she placed it before David who smiled. Even Udoka couldn't help it.
"How about your mother?"
"She isn't around" replied Udoka.
Monica sighted out then saw their mother coming. "Here she comes" she said then all stared at Mrs Williams..

The look on Nneowa's face doused David with inquisitions.
"Did you just say the Williams you are talking about has twins?" the grandmother queried.
"Yes, granny" David became more enthusiastic.
"There is one that was killed years ago for violating the tradition of the land" Nneowa averted her eyes from David to the wall of the sittingroom. "I can remember the name of his wife Rose from the land of Eziukwu.."
"Yes, Granny, she's the one I'm talking about!" David interrupted. He adjusted forward on the seat then held his hands closely for more explanation from his grandmother.
"Rose was banished from our land with the two little children of just a year old. And you know the consequences of such punishment. The husband was a kind religious man. He has a brother known as chief Dike who took over his properties including his house" Nneowa paused and shook her head sadly.
David became thoughtful as if he was solving a quadratic equation. From what he had heard so far recondite his present status. But he knew that Udoka wasn't there in the village. "Granny" he adjusted forward for the second time. "But we are civilized now. Is the banishment still active? I mean is it still real?"
"We were civilized then also, grandson. You can only say that it wasn't as much as it is now. The twins and their mother cannot be found on this land again" the grandmother looked at David again. "Why are we even talking about this?"
David smiled to wipe out suspicion from his grandmother's mind. "I heard about Mr Williams that's why i asked"
"From who?"
"My dad"
"I see"
David stood up instantly. His next target was to go to Eziukwu land. He couldn't wait for the next day to begin his journey.

AT JUMBOSCO FEDERAL UNIVERSITY
Sandra arrived at David's apartment after he left. She found Mike sitting on the bed with his eyes fixed on a cell phone. She wore a high heel shoe on a pair of jean trouser which increased her height. On her elbow was a bag handing for admiration.
"Welcome, Sandra"
"What of David?"
"Oh, he just left. I thought he told you"
"No, to where?" Sandra moved forward and sat on the bed looking at Mike.
"To the village" replied Mike.
"Why?"
"To see someone he claims to miss"
Sandra gradually averted her eyes from him sadly and thoughtfully. Blood seemed to stop running in her vein due to jealousy. Therefore, she quietly stood up at the very sight of Mike and walked towards the door. The sound of her shoes was the only thing heard at that moment. Just at the door, Mike called her then she flung her hair as she looked back. Without a word, Mike stood up to her in a very close range staring into her eyes. He gently slid her hair down, touched her cheek and brought down his hand.
"What?" Sandra said.
"Isn't it better to stop pouring water on a stone?" queried Mike.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Are you dating David? You should be aware that he doesn't love u. So i suggest you give another man a chance"
Sandra gazed at Mike for a while. She slid her her, clutched the door knob and went out without a single word. Then Mike exhaled heavily..

Few hours later inside the campuse, students hung around at everything that can be regarded as shelter especially at the 'Love Garden.' Students who just resumed school or came back from a long distance could be seen walking from the gate to their various lodges. Suddenly, Mike sighted Enest with a small bag hanging behind him. He called him after which he drew closer and shook hands with him.
"I just saw you few days ago. Where are you from?" Mike asked.
"Just coming back from the village for a festival" Enest replied then Mike laughed. "What's so funny, guy?"
"You mean you traveled to your village all because of a festival?"
"And what's wrong with that?"
"It looks as if u are a typical village boy"
Enest smiled. "You can call me that coz i grew up in the village. I can't miss any event there"
"So, how was it? Did u see or do anything special?" Mike asked.
The question took Enest's mind to Monica who he save from a scary masquerad. Then he smiled while Mike frowned.
"Why smiling?"
"Guy, forget that thing" Enest shook his hand and left.

THE NEXT DAY
David took the next available bus to Ezikukwu. The weather looked favourable coz there was no radiation from the sunlight. He came down from the bus wearing the red jacket and hanging the bag Udoka first saw him with at the cyber cafe. He looked simple, yet handsome as he trecked into the heart of the village. He asked several people about the resident of twins or madam Rose but none gave him a positive answer until he met Faith. She was on short black skirt and yellow top.
"Hey, excuse me" David called her attention. She turned. The mind of education, value and maturity engulfed her brain when she saw him. Therefore, she was not only forced to give him attention but also listen to him.
"My name is David. I'm lookin for someone named Udoka Williams"
"Is she a twin?" Faith asked.
"Exactly!"
"I hope no pro.."
"No, problem" interrupted David.

Tranquility lingered between the twins. From the expression on Monica's face, one could tell that she wasn't gonna concur with her sister's idea. Therefore she looked away from her hesitantly to the the darkness.
"I'm not in support of that idea"
Udoka remained quiet after taking a glance at her. She clenched her teeth again then narrowed her vision with all seriousness. That indicated she meant what she said and there was no going back.
"We have always wanted to visit our father's village" Monica began again. "Now we have done that, lets forget anything about it. I don't think i can follow you to the dark forest of Ndiogoro"
"Monica.." Udoka looked at her. "Don't you think there is something about that forest?"
"That's what i don't want to know coz i think anything about it is not only deadly but scary"
"Have you thought of why u keep dreaming and seeing things about it?"
Monica kept quiet.
"Think about it" Udoka concluded.

THE NEXT DAY AT THE UNIVERSITY
Mike folded his hands as he leaned on the wall of their room. He had a white boot on his legs that corresponded with his shirt. He watched as David dress up in a hurry as if he had a flight to catch.
"Guy, are u sure of what you are doing?" Mike spoke up but David ignored him thereby generating another tranquility. He rushed to a chest of drawer, opened it, collected his wallet then opened it. He observed enough money.
"How are you sure you will see this girl in your village?" Mike asked again.
"I just have to take the risk" David replied. "This is complete three weeks i have not heard from Udoka. Mehn, i miss her so much!"
"Well, i think this girl is driving you crazy. Go try your luck" Mike shook hands with him before he left.

Back to the town, Trust and Sunny argued over Mrs Williams and her twins whom they have not seen for long. They were about to go out when Sunny stopped gazing at their door.
"Do you know that some people are wicked?"
"People like?" Trust asked.
"Like our landlord" Sunny averted his eyes from the door. Trust waited for him to continue. "Why would Landlord look at a poor woman like mama Udoka and Monica then sent them packing?"
"My dear such is life" Trust began to walk. "But don't be surprise the next time you'll see the children, they'll be dancing in wealth. They can even come here to visit us with their cars"
Sunny stopped. He disdained Trust before speaking up. "How can they make such huge amount of money?"
"There is nothing impossible for God"
"Then God should show his possibility upon my life now before the twins" Sunny replied hitting hands on his chest while Trust laughed seriously.
"But admit you miss them"
"Yes, i do" Sunny replied as an afterthought. "But i don't think that troublesome girl misses me too"
"She does"
"You talk as if u don't know who that girl is.." They walked out.

In the village of Eziukwu, Mrs Williams had gone out leaving the girls. Monica rushed out to the backyard where Udoka was preparing breakfast. She set her fire in the middle of three big stones with firewood. On top was a pot.
"Guess who i just remembered" Monica said smiling.
Udoka straightened up. Her face brightened with smiles when she saw her sister's glowing with smiles too. "Who did you remember?" she asked.
"Just guess"
"Enest"
"Enest?" Monica queried thoughtfully. "No, not him. And why should i remember or think about him?"
"Nothing.. But what if he thinks about you each day?" Udoka shrunk her eyes.
"What do you mean?" Monica was still inquisitive.
"Just forget it. So who did you remember?"
"Hmm..." Monica twisted her mouth and disdained her sister, yet, smiles could be traced on her face. "Well, i remembered your husband Oga Sunny and Trust" she giggled.
Udoka frowned her face instantly. "And so what now?"
"I miss them!" Monica shrieked in laughter. "Don't you miss them?"
Udoka ignored her then opened her pot on fire.
"Just admit it" Monica persuaded. "It has always been a funny compound with u and your.."
"Fine!" Udoka interrupted. "I miss them but that man is so annoying sometimes"
"That's makes both of you perfect couple" Monica ran inside the house knowing fully well her sister would react. Of course she pursued her with a big spoon.

David arrived at Ndiogoro land. At the same time, Enest began to prepar to go back to school. He had came back because of the festival and now wanted to go.
David met her grandmother in the sittingroom room. She was in her late 60s but had a good vision and sound mind. The house was modernized and painted. Nneowa, the grandmother had the history of Ndiogoro land at the tip of her finger ready to flip it off to anyone who is so desire to know. After greeting and eating, David sat opposite Nneowa and said, "Granny, do you know of any Mr Williams or his house?"
"Williams of Ndiogoro land?" Nneowa repeated thoughtfully.
"Yes"
"What's his second name?"
"I don't know. Though he's late. He has twins named Udoka and Monica"

The story of the Dark Forest of Ndiogoro land was known across many villages. Both young and old had never tried to over emphasize it's crucial endowment. But many, all most all had no idea of it's content except the belief that the forest is a resident of their ancestors and brings about progress and luck to the land. God revealed the secret about the unknown content of the land to late Mr Williams due to his kindness and faith in Christianity but was killed in his quest to know what the secret was all about. But was that why he was killed? Who killed him?
Adaku averted her eyes from Faith in amazement. She drew closer to Monica and stood before her. She looked into her eyes making sure she was in her right senses.
Already, Udoka was beginning to sense that Monica would reveal their identity as citizens of Ndiogoro instead of Eziukwu because it's not only their father's land but also where they were born.
"Monica, stop this nonsense!" shouted Udoka. She wanted to drag her away from the road but Adaku, being so dramatic stretched her hand in prevention.
"Both of you are always confusing me. What do you mean by you are no stranger of Ndiogoro land?" she asked looking at Monica.
However, Monica had gone out from the face of the physical to the spiritual as she stood on the road with her eyes closed: she found herself running into the dark forest. The more she ran, the darker the forest became..
When Adaku waited for a reply without getting it, she shook Monica's body vigorously before she came back to physical.
"Are you dreaming?"
"Leave her alone!" Udoka retorted and finally dragged her sister out from the road.
"You girls should take it easy nah" Faith interfered. "Are you both from Ndiogoro land?"
"No, we are not" replied Udoka.
"Then why did your sister say that she's no stranger of the land?" Adaku persisted.
"It was a slip of tongue" Monica spoke up. "Please, lets keep going" she led the way followed by her sister, Faith and Adaku.

Ndiogoro land was really blessed by God. Christianity was practised but yet the traditions of the land were never neglected or forgotten. One could see old buildings renovated with modern facilities. Some were storey buildings while some were fantastic bungalows, yet, it was regarded as a village. At the centre of the village were different traditional musicians in action; masquerad of all sort danced and pursued people around with brooms, canes and marchets especially the young women. The king and queen, chiefs and elders on red cap could be seen on executive chairs. They nodded their hands rhythmically to the beat of the music. Among them was chief Dike, a brother to late Mr Williams and uncle to the twins.
The four girls admired the beauty of the land when they approached closer. Though only the twins seemed more enthusiastic about it. They watched each building and wished their father was still alive. Reaching to the festival ground, a masquerad with two horns pursued them.
"Jesus!" Monica first took on her heels before others followed her. On the run, she fell down then screamed in a loud voice as the masquerad hurried to her. It seemed like a dream but it was real! Meanwhile, other girls had scattered around. Before the masquerad got to her, a young man blocked him with money as a way to prevent him from hurting young helpless Monica. He danced traditionally and threw the money in the air. With joy, the masquerad jumped up and danced along with him.

The young man met Monica in the mix of her sister and friends. He looked educated, intelligent and neat to the extent Adaku began to admire him. Seeing him, Udoka remembered David. But the guy became confused when he saw identical faces.
"Are both of you twins?"
The question made Faith rolled her eyeballs and exhaled deeply. She regarded it as stupid one. "How can somebody see twins, yet ask if they are twins?" she soliloquized. Adaku understood her behaviour, therefore she smiled.
"Yes, we are" Monica replied. "Thanks for saving me from that.."
"Is okay" the young man interrupted. "You should be careful next time"
"Okay"
"I'm Enest"
"I'm Monica. This is my sister Udoka and my friends; Adaku and Faith" Monica introduced.
"Hi" Adaku waved at Enest with a smile but Faith brought down her hand.
Enest smiled. "Hi" he replied. "I must take my leave now" he gently walked out.
"Okay bye" Monica stared at him.

The main ceremony began: the women sang and danced traditionally. Of course Adaku and Faith shook their butts to their satisfaction. The twins also danced but were more interested in the beauty of the land they had always wanted to see.
It was beginning to get dark, Udoka tapped her sister and friends.
"It's time to go home"
"Lets stay a little more" Adaku objected. "Young girls have not even danced for the prince to.."
"Adaku!" Udoka interrupted her. "It's getting late!"
"Lets still have some fun!" Faith began to dance again.
Seeing that, Udoka held her sister and moved away. Just then a car drove after them..

Monica waited patiently for the answer to her question before her sister. That wasn't the first time she sees her in such a mood but this one was more serious.
"I know is because of David coz i have never seen you like this before. That's why is not good to love. 'Love' they said is wicked and can put someone in a sad mood"
Udoka looked at Monica from the chair and smiled at her words. "How i wish u will fall in love one day" she averted her eyes from her.
"But is true. Do u miss him?"
"Who?"
"David"
"Yes, we never saw each other to say goodbye, and i feel as if we are separated forever. What if i don't get to see him again?" asked Udoka.
Monica kept quiet thinking of an iconoclasm of her sister's last statement in order to encourage her. But before she spoke up, they heard a female voice in front of their compound.
"Adaku!" both exclaimed and rushed out.

In front of the compound was Adaku standing before Mrs Williams who had a plate of rice in her hands. She sat on a plastic chair. On her body was a wrapper tied across her chest.
"Nne, you are welcome"
"Thank you ma" Adaku smiled unabashedly. She wore a milky gown and had 'Isiowu' hairstyle of young igbo girls.
"Who did you say u are looking for?" Mrs Williams asked.
"Monica and Udoka"
"Hmm... my children have started making friends already" Mrs Williams smiled. "It seems like you girls planned to go somewhere"
"Yes, ma" Adaku replied still smiling and flinging her hands in a way it made a gentle clap.
"Where do you girls plan to go today?"
"Is not today, ma"
"Really? When?"
"In the next three market days"
"Where could that be?"
"The stream.." Udoka rushed out.
"The farm.." Monica added standing besides Udoka.
The expression of confusion triggered in the faces of their mother and Adaku.
"Stream?" the mother asked looking at her children.
"No, farm" Udoka replied.
"Farm?"
"Yes, you can call it a bush" Monica retorted.
"To do what there?"
The twins went dumb. They glanced at each other to formulate another lies but they couldn't. Due to Adaku understood they were covering their plan to Ndiogoro, she spoke up, "We planned to go to the bush in search of mushrooms and okazi leaves. Though that's not why I'm here. I came to ask them if they would go to the stream with me"
"Oh.." Mrs Williams turned to the plate of rice. "I'm happy about your plans"
"Yes, we shall follow u to the stream" Udoka rushed inside. She brought out two buckets and they headed to the stream.

On their way to the stream, Adaku, being so dramatic, she kept her bucket and touched the two girls thereby making them to stop too.
"Come oh, i don't understand. What was the drama all about?"
"What drama?" Udoka retorted.
"The one that happened in your compound with your mother"
"So, you were trying to tell our mother about our plan to Ndiogoro" Monica interfered.
"Why not?" Adaku spread her hands.
The twins looked at each other.
"Please, keep our plans to Ndiogoro a secret especially from our mother" said Udoka.
"She won't let us go if she knows" added Monica.
"But why?" Adaku asked.
"Coz we're still new here"
"Hmm... Okay then" Adaku picked up her bucket. She dropped it again as they wanted to leave and looked at the twins. "Between both of you, who is Udoka?"
The twins smiled.
"I'm Udoka" Monica replied.
"Don't mind her, I'm Udoka" Udoka continued walking followed by her sister.
"You girls are confusing me the more!" Adaku followed them briskly..

THE NEXT THREE MARKET DAYS
Faith, Adaku, Monica and Udoka began the journey to Ndiogoro on foot. Meaning they had to cross several rivers. The road was narrow with grasses at a very close range in a way they flung on the legs of the girls. They were in their best attire. Any little time, Adaku would stop and practiced dance steps she will exhibit at the festival. She would shake her butt vigorously and tell stories on how she will win the heart of all the men at the festival. Other girls laughed. Sometimes, Faith would join her in dance while the twins watched them hilariously. However, they had crossed few rivers and got to a particular one. It has a bridge were Adaku and Faith began to dance again.
"Wait oh" Udoka looked into the river from the bridge. "How many rivers have we crossed?"
"Just few" Faith stopped dancing.
"Do we still have another one to cross?" asked Monica.
"No, this is the last" Adaku also stopped dancing. "Please, let's hurry up" they began to walk.
The girls approached closer to Ndiogoro land. They could hear the sound of drums and flutes from a distant. As they hurried up, Monica saw a narrow road. She stopped and stared at it thereby making the other girls to stop.
"Monica, what's it?" Udoka asked.
"Monica, Ongini?" Faith added.
"This road leads to where?" Monica asked still staring at the road.
"It leads to the Dark Forest of Ndiogoro. Strangers don't enter there.
"I'm no stranger" Monica said then the girls looked at each other.

Monica felt like she has said something bad when all eyes went to her. Therefore she spread her hands, looked at her sister and said, "What?"
"Do you want to follow us to Ndiogoro?" Faith asked her.

Adaku approached closer to them dramatically, she looked at them up and down, back and front then stood beside Faith who stared at her strangely. Even the twins wondered why she did that.
"Adaku.."
"Wait, i know where you are going" Adaku interrupted Faith. "I only did that to see if there is anything i can use to differentiate them. How can i know when I'm with Udoka or Monica?"
Hearing that, the twins smiled broadly. Faith thought of what she said. "It's true, how can we know?" she also asked.
"With time, you shall know" Udoka replied.
"You mean there is nothing i can see on your bodies then know" Adaku asked then the twins shook their heads negatively. "Nna Odikwa egwu oh!" she exclaimed in igbo language.
The four girls interacted and went home together. It is always fun to be with Faith and Adaku due to their hilarious and dramatical characters without suspicions.

Mrs Robinson watched her son David pick the call. Her eyes fixed on him and ears opened widely to listen to his conversion with whosoever that called. She thought. David gently placed the phone on his ear.
"Hi, Dave" Sandra sounded on the phone.
"Hi, Sandra" David replied. Hearing the name 'Sandra' the mother's enthusiasm arose.
"Finally the strike has been called off. I can't wait to see you again my love"
"Yeah, i just heard the news now. Well, I'll be in school soon"
"Tomorrow?"
"Probably" David glanced at her mother.
"Always on probation. Please, come tomorrow joor" Sandra sounded desperately.
"Alright, bye" the line went dead. David could see his mother smiling unusually on the bed. He ignored her coz he knew what she would say.
"I heard the name Sandra. Who is she?" the mother asked.
"She's my course mate, mum"
"Is she beautiful?"
"Oh, not again! Mum, can you just leave? I'm not in the mood" David collapsed on the bed helplessly and hopelessly but the mother persisted as usual..

THE NEXT DAY AT JUMBOSCO FEDERAL UNIVERSITY.
One could see well dressed female and male students inside the school. They were always seen peered together at every angel having romantic time. Some were either heading to lecture or coming out from library. Some were on their way to fellowship with Holy Bibles in their hands. They were normally on tight black skirt that exposes the shape of their underwear and white top well tucked in. David and Mike his friend just arrived to their lodge. The lodge was well furnished. At one angel was a voluminous bed where they sat down. David wore a pair of black plain trouser and shoes, and a shortsleeve body-hug shirt that exposed his muscles. Mike wore a boot, jean trousers and T-shirt. Suddenly, a knock came from the door then Mike smiled coz he knew it was no other person but Sandra. "Get the door, man" he told David who walked gradually and opened the door.
"Dave!" Sandra shouted and jumped on him. She hugged him tightly with joy and happiness. She even kissed him which David reciprocated with smiles. "I missed you so much"
"I miss you too, Sandra" David replied.
"I thought you won't come today, i would have dealt with you" Sandra disengaged herself from him then recognised Mike's presence. She wore an ash jean trouser with a pair of flat cover shoe and a yellow top. She's neither tall nor short, slim nor fat. She can also be termed as a beautiful girl. She walked to Mike and gave him one sided hug. "I've missed both of you"
"David missed you more" Mike said then glanced at David.
"Really?"
"Yes"
"Hmm... incredible"
"Yes, incredible it is" David interfered.
"Shut up" Sandra told him with smile and hugged him again.

Back to Eziukwu, Udoka became dull at their backyard. She stood with her hands folded and spacing into the sky. She thought of nobody but David. One could see grasses few centimeters away from her and dirty bucket of water that had stayed in the rain for days. "I should have collected the phone from him" she thought and sat down on wooden chair. "But my mother would have asked questions.. God, why am i feeling this way? Is this how it is to be in love?" she kept thinking.
"Udoka!" Monica came out. Udoka looked at her without responding then averted her eyes. "I have been looking for you and why are you like this? Is it because of David or our plan to follow Adaku and Faith to Ndiogoro?" Monica brought down her voice..

The expression on the faces of Trust and Sunday got David worried. Though he knew that Udoka had left for the village coz the manager of the Cyber Cafe had told him so he wanted to verify but what he was seeing in the faces of the two men gave him a sexism notification.
"Hum.. I hope no problem. I only want to know if actually Udoka has gone to their village, nothing else" David sounded conventionally then the two men looked at each other again.
"How do you know they have gone to the village?" Trust asked looking at David.
"That shouldn't be the question!" Sunny began with a high tone. "You should be asking him how he knew Udoka!" he looked at David. "So, you are one of those that molest young girls around"
"I beg your pardon!" David provoked. "With perturbation i asked a moderate question that requires a fascinating answer not molestation. Moreover, Udoka isn't a young girl that can be molested so why taking me as a sexual pervert?"
Hearing the grammatical words, the two men went dumb.
"E be like say this boy go school oh" Trust voiced out.
"Who did you say is your father again?" Sunday asked.
"It doesn't matter anymore. Thanks" David turned to leave but they called him back and apologised.
"We have not seen Udoka and her family for the past two days now and we don't know where they are" Sunday said.
"Udoka's manager said they left for the village due to a bankrupt" David began.
"Bankrupt?" Trusted wanted to know the meaning.
"Yes, it simply means they couldn't pay up what they owe which is their house rent. Please, do you know the name of their village?"
"Yes, something.. Eziukwu" Sunny replied. "That's their mother's home town. I don't know of their father"
"I guess her father's is Ndiogoro" David thought for a while while the men looked surprise. "Well, thank you for the information" he concluded and hurried out.
"Chei...!!" Trust shouted with hands on his head. "This boy seems to know much about these people oh"
"When i tell you that girl Udoka is always up to something, believe me!" Sunny concentrated on their puzzle game.

David hurried up to their house with the hope of traveling to either Ndiogoro or Eziukwu in search of the girl he believed he loves. He pushed the parlour door opened forcefully and hurried to his room without even checking whether his parents were in the parlour as usual or not. He hung down his bag, put his laptop inside it and went to the wardrobe to pick out few clothes but his door cracked opened. When he saw the person who entered, his heart sank into his stomach. Therefore, he slowed down but finally brought out the clothes trying to put them into the bag too.
"I never knew you are still around, Mum"
"What are you doing, David?" the mother left the door to the bed where he was packing. She sat down.
"I'm traveling mum"
"To where?"
"The village. I've decided to visit grandmother"
"Are you sure coz this is an impromptu journey?"
"Yes, mum"
"Well, it's too late"
Hearing that, David stopped and looked at his mother. "What do you mean?" he asked.
"I can't believe you are asking me this question. Don't you know that your school has called off the strike? So you are leaving for school tomorrow" the mother replied.
David remained frustrated and disappointed. He wanted nothing but to see Udoka. "Mum, i can still travel and come back today or tomorrow before going back to school" he persisted.
"Do you think Ndiogoro is at your doorstep? I'm suspecting you oh, you never liked going to the village. Why all of a suddenly.." the sound of David's cell phone interrupted Mrs Robinson-Sandra was calling....

Eziukwu and Ndiogoro aren't far from each other. But one needs to cross several rivers before getting there on foot. With vehicles, is faster and closer through a different a route. In the land of Eziukwu, Mrs Williams and her children had been making an effort to adapt with the environment especially the twins who had left to fetch water from a stream. The stream had natural spring water running out from rocks. Monica couldn't take off her eyes from it. Girls at their age were there fetching water too. Some tied wrappers while some were in local gowns. Only Monica and Udoka dressed like city girls. They stood closely listening to the girls conversations as they waited for their turn to fetch.
"Ndiogoro people will be having a festival in the next three market days" Faith, a girl in a gown said. She's tall, slim and beautiful.
"Yes, and i will not miss it" Adaku, a girl in a wrapper replied. She tied the wrapper in a way her attractive thighs were visible while she was on black top. She had a slim body typology with attractive hairstyle.
"I know u don't miss such things" Faith smiled. "Please, we shall go together oh" she added.
"You are talking as if u don't like such things too. Well, i will call you before going" Adaku replied.
"Can we follow you girls?" Monica asked then the two girls stared at her even Udoka her sister..

Mrs Williams and Udoka didn't need anybody to tell them the cause of Monica's cry. They could see each other's eyes with the help of the light from the torch-light staring steadily. Udoka didn't know what to say but had only one thing in mind which her mother was also aware of: going to their father's land. As they looked at each other, Monica's voice sounded, "Mother, he called me an angel." The mother and Udoka looked at her simultaneously.
"Who called u an angel?" Mrs Williams asked.
"I don't know" Monica replied.
Hearing that, Mrs Williams casted her mind back to the past.

FLASH BACK
Mr Williams the twins' father was a tall handsome man. He came back from the farm and sat in front of his house. The house was a large bungalow made with cement. But by mare looking at it, one can deduce that it's an old building. Just as he rested in front of the house, Mrs Williams the wife came out with a year old Monica.
"Nna anyi, welcome" she greeted and sat down with a smile. Without responding to the greetings, the husband carried Monica with joy. "How are you my angel?" he said.
"What did u call her?" the wife asked.
"Angel, she's my angel" Mr Williams replied..

CONTINUITY
After the remembrance, Mrs Williams began to shed tears. She held Monica tightly and said, "Your father called you an angel my daughter"
"My father?" Monica disengaged from her mother. "He use to call me that?"
"Yes" the mother replied.
"I think that explains why he said i was in my land when i asked where i was"
"Did you see him?" Udoka asked.
"No, i heard only a voice" Monica replied and looked at her mother. "There is something unique about the Dark Forest of Ndiogoro land that i need to know" she added.
"I don't think there is anything unique about it. It's just a drea.."
"Don't call it a dream mother!" Udoka interrupted her mother. Her voice echoed in the church. "Why do you like covering this issue up when you know that it's getting out of hand? If there is nothing unique about the forest then why does Monica keep seeing it in her dreams and hearing voices?"
"Shut your mouth, Udoka!" the mother rebuked her. "What do you want me to do? Take you to the forest?"
"Yes, mother! Take us there!"
"Are you out of your mind?!"
"Stop!" Monica shouted. "Both of you should stop this, I'm losing my mind already!" she concluded and quietly laid down again sniffing in tears. Udoka looked at her mother and said, "I'm sorry, mother" The mother said nothing rather put off the torch light. After the silence lingered, she said, "Go to bed"

THE NEXT
Trust and Sunday came out from their room just to see Mrs Williams' door still locked. Sunny couldn't bear it anymore, so he knocked at the door continuously with a chewing stick in his mouth and wrapper tied around his waist. Trust stood at a distant looking at him.
"Guy, e be like say these people don die inside this room oh!" Sunny shouted looking at him.
"How do you know? Are you the one that killed them?" Trust asked.
"Who knows if that witch Udoka has not killed her sister and mother"
Trust laughed.
"No, I'm serious oh coz that girl can do and undo" Sunny added.
"Abeg, is like they traveled" Trust returned to their apartment.
"Okay oh, let's watch and see" Sunny concluded and left the door.

The month had already ended, so Udoka used the opportunity to go back to the Cyber Cafe. She explained her situation to the manager then was paid her monthly salary and she left the cafe back to the church. With the money, they transported themselves and properties to Eziukwu, her mother's home town. The village was nothing more like a village; naked children playing on a heep of sand, erosion on the road, bushes beside it and poor houses and electric connections. Already, the twins and their mother had packed in. Udoka came out from the local house, space into the sky with her hands on her waist.
"I love the environment" a voice came from behind. She turned to see Monica smiling.
"What's so loving about the environment?" Udoka asked.
"The cool weather, less noise pollution and availability of fruits" Monica replied and saw two young guys walking along the road. They sagged their trousers and unkept their hair. "My God, this is what I'm not gonna like" she said.
"What?"
"Bad boys"
Udoka followed the direction of her eyes to those boys then smiled.

THE FOLLOWING DAY
David stepped out from his room with two cell phones again with the hope of persuading Udoka to have one. But he was surprise when he got to the cyber cafe without seeing her. The manager told him she wasn't working there anymore then he became disappointed. With speed, he left the cyber cafe to Udoka's compound and opened the gate. He met Sunny and Trust playing puzzle. They looked at him from head to toe.
"Who are you?" Sunny asked.
"Who you be?" Trust added.
"I'm sorry, I'm David Robinson"
"What can we do u for?" Sunny asked again.
"I'm looking for Udoka" David replied then the two men looked at each other...

Darkness began to take over the atmosphere. The joy in Udoka's heart gradually dwindled when she entered their compound and her steps changed from fast to slow. She narrowed her vision to made sure that what she saw wasn't a dream. She looked around the compound but saw nobody except her mother and sister who sat sadly with their properties outside. She slowly climbed the four stairs and asked, "Mother, what's the meaning of this?" Nobody responded rather the mother began to shed tears. "Mother talk to me! Monica.." Udoka turned to her sister. "..what's wrong?"
"The landlord came with some boys and sent us parking" Monica replied.
"What?! He should have waited till tomorrow! Where are we to sleep tonight?" Udoka lamented bitterly. "What's all this for goodness sake!" her voice began to break thereby stimulating her tears glands. Already, Monica had started crying just like her mother. Their sadness remained static for some times before the mother stood up. She adjusted her wrapper, dried her tears then walked down the stairs.
"To where are u going, mother?" Udoka asked.
"To the church. Let me see if we can spend the night there before traveling to the village" the mother replied.
"Village?"
"Yes"
"You mean my father's village?" Monica interfered sitting very close to Udoka but the mother disdained her without replying then continued walking. After she left, the twins looked at each other and averted their eyes.
"Are we going to live in the village? This is serious!" Monica said.
Udoka remained quiet thinking of her job, David and her education most importantly. "How can i leave all this behind?" she thought and hissed frustratingly.

Before Trust and Sunny returned to the compound hopping to see one of the twins as usual, Mrs Williams and the children had gone with their properties. So they stood before their room staring at the door.
"Where is this troublesome girl?" Sunny asked with hands on his waist.
"The compound just dey quiet. Where is my Monica" Trust also asked. Hearing that, Sunny disdained him.
"Who said that Monica is yours?"
"Shut up! Why are you asking about the other one.. what's her name again.." Trust scratched his head to remember. "..yes, Udoka! Isn't it because u miss her?"
"Over my dead body will a miss that girl" Sunny opposed seriously. "But e get the way that girl dey do me for body" he brought down his voice with a smile. "Chai!!" he exclaimed and touched his dick through his trouser.
"Now, have u seen the reason why you will miss her?"
"Yes oh" Sunny replied imagining Udoka's round butt.
"Did you just say yes?" Trust asked to confirmed before Sunny came back to his sense.
"No, never! I will not miss her" he concluded and hurried to their room while Trust laughed seriously.

11:05pm
David couldn't sleep with the joy in him. He stayed awake smiling and thinking about Udoka. The way he felt cannot be comprehended by any person unless you are swimming in the pools of true love.
On the other hand, Udoka stayed awake thinking about David too but wasn't looking happy. She felt that her first love and relationship was about to crash, therefore, she began to miss David already. She regrated not having a cell phone and belonging to a rich family. At a corner inside the church where they laid, no light could be seen. Darkness covered the building. Meanwhile, Monica and her mother had slept. Just as Udoka remained awake thinking, she heard her sister murmuring and shaking her legs; she was dreaming again..

DREAM
Everything inside the dark forest became more scary and real. Monica, seeing herself there again in a different mood was something she couldn't write home about. The bright light from the ground shone on her face as she stood in the middle of the forest. She was filled with joy and happiness but was crying seriously.
"Why do you cry my angel?" a male voice came from the light again. Hearing the voice, Monica began to cry the more. Her lips vibrated and tears gushed down to her mouth.
"I don't know. Please, where am i" she asked.
"In your land"
"My land?"
"Yes, my angel"
"Why do you call me that?"
"Because you are"
"Why am i here?" Monica asked but heard nothing again. She looked around the dark forest but saw nothing. Suddenly, more bright light began to pop out from the ground at different angles, even at a very close range. Therefore, she screamed..

REALITY
Monica's voice made Udoka rush her when she woke up. The mother located a torch light and put it on. Seeing the brightness of the light, Monica screamed again thinking she was still in the dream then began to cry. Udoka was already beside her when her mother drew closer.
"Ongini? What?!" she asked.
"Monica, what is it?" Udoka added.
"I'm so scared" Monica began in tears. She moved closer to her mother and engulf her hands round her waist. "Please, hold me mother. Don't leave me, abeg of u please" she cried. Then the mother and Udoka became speechless..

As Monica was silently eating the food in front of their house, so as Udoka stared into the dark sky reflecting on how she reacted during the dinner date she had with David. She was totally lost in thought that Monica had to stop eating and tapped her shoulder. "Udoka!" she shrieked.
Udoka startled and came back to her senses. "What's the problem?" she asked.
"I asked how your date went but just to found you lost in thought"
"Monica, you won't understand"
"What do you mean?" Monica dropped the food and concentrated on her sister.
"The date went well but..." Udoka paused. She spaced into the sky again and stretched her legs.
"But what?" Monica was still inquisitive.
Udoka looked at her and said, "I turned him down after he made a relationship proposal to me"
"Hmm... but why?"
"He's from Ndiogoro, my father's land. I'm afraid things might not work out well after sometimes"
"Is that the only reason?" Monica asked again then Udoka nodded her head positively. "That means you like hi.. sorry, does that mean you love him?" Monica smiled.
Hearing the question and seeing the smile on her face, Udoka smiled too without responding. Though, Monica understood that her smile meant 'yes' to her question, so she carried her food again. "It doesn't really matter where he's from. What matters is what he feels for you" she concluded.
"Hmm... you talk as if you have done this before oh" Udoka said.
"No oh! It's what i see and hear on movies" Monica objected.
"Abeg make i hear word" Udoka turned to the sky again with a smile but suddenly laughed with her sister.
"Wait oh.." Monica stopped laughing, she seriously kept the food and looked at her sister who also stared at her anticipatory. "Did you just say David is from Ndiogoro?" she asked.
"Yes?"
"Then we have gotten what we have been looking for!" Monica exclaimed silently.
"What?"
"Through him, we can now get to the village since mother doesn't want to show us the way"
Udoka thought for a while and said, "You have an idea"
"I always have an idea" Monica began to eat again with a smile.

FEW DAYS LATER
David never gave up on Udoka. He made sure he wins her heart but she didn't succumb to his sweet words until a very faithful evening. Both were found in a local stadium were David's friend, Mike was playing a football match. Gentle wind took over the cloud thereby making the weather more romantic. One could see footballers in the field putting on pink and light-green sport wears. At one side of the field was an auditorium were fanz cheers their players up. The referee was on black short and black top with boots. His dressing had absolute comparison with his complexion. At another angle of the local stadium were Udoka and David seated under a tree which branch had withered and fallen down. David was on a jean trousers with shirt, while Udoka wore a black leggings with a white top. She had David's phone in her hands while David placed his hand across her shoulder. He gradually took the phone from her to get her attention.
"What?" Udoka asked then looked at him.
"Nothing" David smiled.
"But you just collected the phone from me"
"Yes, to get your attention"
"Hmm.." Udoka smiled. "Please, give me the phone!" she struggled to get it by force but David raised it up making her to stand on her feet jumping and laughing to get it. David brought it down, then she grabbed it forcefully. Suddenly, she felt his hands wrapped round her waist. She looked at him to find out what was going on but found him staring at her romantically. Her body became weak with increase in heartbeat without knowing when the cell phone fell from her hand.
"David?" she called.
"What must i do to make u know that u have taking over my heart?" David began staring her eyes. "What i feel for u is greater than love. It has eaten deep into me that i can't spend a moment without u. I love u so much, Udoka" he gradually disengaged his hands from her waist to her two cheeks then brought his head closer and kissed her! Udoka smiled and held his two arms.
"I love you too, David" she said.
"Yes!" David exclaimed. He carried her up and flung her around while she screamed in joy. Just then, Mike arrived sweating variously.
"What's going on here?" he asked with a smile. However, Udoka had picked up the phone.
"Mehn I'm so happy. Is the match over?" David shook his hand.
"Yes, you were so carried away by your damsel that u couldn't even notice it" Mark added then Udoka smiled.

Udoka headed to their house happily that evening. Likewise David who had told Mark everything on their way home. As a guyman, Mark knew how girls cluster around David, so he asked, "Are you sure u won't break this girl's heart?"
"No, i love her so much" David replied.
"What of Sandra?"
"Sandra is.. is my friend"
Mark smiled, "Okay" he concluded.

With the joy in Udoka's heart, she opened their gate but couldn't believe what she saw: her mother, sister and their properties were found outside..

Silence lingered as Sunny expected Udoka to approve his request at the etrance of their compound. Meanwhile, Udoka had positioned her ears as if she didn't hear him vividly. "Oga Sunny, what did you just say?" she asked with anger.
"Are you still a baby?" Sunny replied and drew closer to her. He looked around again in the darkness then lowered his voice. "You know say u too fine. And the thing wey u give to that young man, fit me too" he added in pigin English.
Udoka stared at him for a while and said, "You must be very stupid to think I'm that kind of a person. Nonsense!" she hissed, opened the gate forcefully and walked inside. One could see the bag in her hand hit the gate and her butt shaking rhythmically with her steps.
"My goodness!" Sunny exclaimed and looked at himself. "Am i as stupid as this girl said?" he asked then also entered.

Inside the room, Mrs Williams sat on the bed still with the plate of food in her hands while Monica sat on the cushion when Udoka walked in. Her heart skipped when she saw her mother, therefore, she stood a step away from the door and transferred the bag to another hand. Monica glanced at the bag and stared at her, likewise the mother.
"Goo.. goo.. good evening, mother" Udoka stammered.
"Evening" the mother replied. "Your sister said you went to buy something"
Hearing that, the twins glanced at each other then Monica bent her head down praying that her lies shouldn't be exposed. Even Udoka understood that she lied in order to cover her up. Therefore, she stammered again, "Ye.. ye.. yes, mother, i went to buy something"
"What's that?" the mother was still inquisitive.
"Food and drink"
"Who gave you money for that?"
"Hum.. mother?" Udoka transferred the bag to another hand again thinking of what to say. However, Monica's heart had been beating as if it would jump out from her body in no time. The twins had never lied to their mother before not to talk of when it concerns a date or relationship issues with a man.
"I said who gave you the money?!" the mother repeated in a higher tone.
"Monica gave me the money" Udoka replied then her sister's heart jumped as she stared at Udoka, while the mother stared at her.
"Monica, where did you get such amount of money from?" the mother asked.
"Mother, is my savings from my customers who leave their change for me" Monica replied.
"Really?"
"Yes"
The mother looked at Udoka again and said, "Why would you buy food with the money when there is food at home?"
"Hum..."
"There was no food that time" Monica interrupted her sister as a way to defend her again.
"Is okay, enjoy yourselves" the mother stood up and began to change up while Udoka and Monica exhaled silently in relieve.

David sluggishly came out from the car after he got home. He wasn't looking happy because Udoka turned him down. With the sluggishness, he entered and found his parents in the sittingroom. They were sitting on one couch as husband and wife they are. David greeted them without a smile and headed to his room.
"David!" the mum called.
"Yes, mum!" David's voice echoed from his room. He collapsed on the bed and face up in a way his legs were still touching the ground. Suddenly, the mum bagged in.
"David, where have u been?"
"I went out with my friends, mum"
"Who are they?"
"Oooh, mum not again!" David shouted exhaustively. "I'm not in the mood for your insatiable factitious inquisition"
"My God!" the mum exclaimed. "Am i the one you are speaking grammar for?" she added. When David refused to continued the conversation, she went out. Immediately after that, his phone rang then he picked.
"Are you still driving?" Sandra's voice sounded on the phone.
"No" David grumbled.
"Then why haven't you called?"
"I'm just coming in now"
"Is okay, baby. Your voice doesn't sound good" Sandra's voice became romantic.
"It's a personal problem"
"Share it with me. You know i love you. Your problem is my problem"
David smiled unwillingly. He knew that Sandra was just exhibiting school-life character and her character too. She is the type that say her mind but had found it difficult to proclaim her love to David rather moving indirectly.
The phone call lasted very long but at the end, David never told her the reasons. His mind went back to Udoka instantly after the call.

The twins where found outside in front of their house with the bag of food. Though it was dark but they could see each other.
"You nearly put me into trouble!" Monica began then Udoka laughed.
"I know you are very good at lying that's why i shifted everything to you telling mother that u gave me the money"
"Are you calling me a liar?"
"No oh! We are all liars" Udoka answered and they laughed. She handed the bag to her sister who became surprise. "David said is yours" she added.
"Who's David?" Monica asked as she was bringing out the food and drinks.
"The one that took me out today"
"Hmm.. So how did it go?" Monica asked again then Udoka's mind went back to David..
